Image from Aardshok magazine is here and a translation of the review is below. How often does it happen that a band suddenly appears out of nowhere with a pulverizing debut album that is stuffed full with super-tight melodic rock songs? Also surprising that this unknown Swedish formation has only one experienced member ; guitarist Michael Larsson played in the band R.A.W. that brought out 2 albums back in the ‘90’s. The heavy riffing and soloing of the guitarist is supported by by a tight, pumping rhythm section, an absolute world class singer, and tucked away keyboard player who fills in all the gaps mostly with his Hammond organ. All 12 songs on the CD have a typical 80’s feel; think of bands like Talisman, Europe, White Lion, Blue Murder, and Whitesnake, but played in a more contemporize style. Despite these influences Coldspell still have their own sound. There isn’t a single point to fault them on. This is no mickey-mouse demo, its a well- produced debut of the sort that one might expect from a record company investing in a top studio using the best producers. “Infinite stargaze” has a totally infectious arrangement which seems to cause the cd to grip the player like a magnet! In other words; You will want to keep playing it! In conclusion; its hard to imagine a hotter debut album!
